Campground Ministry
Campground Ministry
Since it's second year Kentucky Raceway Ministries has operated a
hospitality tent at the general campground near Kentucky Speedway.
Volunteers staff this tent throughout the weekend to meet and minister
to race fans. Christian literature and light refreshments are available.
Prayer requests may be submitted by race fans. These will be prayed for
on-the-spot and in the days following the races.
The ministry holds a morning worship serve at the campground tent
on Saturday morning of the race weekends.
The Gospel message and an opportunity to respond to it is
provided in these services. Worship music is also provided. Speakers for
these service and worship leaders/musicians come from local supporting
churches.
One of the ministries that has been popular at the campground for
years is the sports tournaments hosted by Bob Young and J.T. marsh. They
have horse shoes, corn hole, ladder tennis, Matchbox car races and other
activities.
Jackie Apted and Cindy Richmond have started a "Drama Queens for the
King" ministry in which they paint nails and spend time chatting with
the ladies.
For the 2011 Kentucky Speedway race season there will be five campground
areas in addition to the Infield RV Area. This is a big addition to our
responsibilities.
Our Vision. Volunteers to work their way throughout the campgrounds to
meet race fans and perform ministry. Volunteers distribute information
about campground worship service times and campground music ministry
events. They would also distribute cookies, Christian and race-related
literature and receive prayer requests.
KRM to coordinate campground visitation ministries by church
organized teams.
Churches interested in providing these ministry resources should contact

Vending Area Ministry
Kentucky Raceway Ministries operates a
booth in at the vending area near the main entrance gates of Kentucky Speedway.
Volunteers staff this tent throughout the weekend to meet and minister
to race fans at the track. Christian literature, free cookies and ice water are available.
KRM puts together a neat little newsletter called the Bump Draft.
This usually contains a list of the drivers who may be in the current
race, Christian testimonies and other articles of interest to race fans.
It also has a plan of Salvation.
Our volunteers pass out between 5,000 and 20,000 of these free
newsletters. Most regular fans know of the newsletters and actually look
us up to get their free copy.
Trauma Team Ministry
On race days, Raceway Ministry
chaplains minister on the grounds of the speedway in a variety of ways.
They distribute wonderful Christian material to encourage people in
their spiritual lives. They coordinate closely with emergency personnel
(EMS and on-site Care Center personnel from the Speedways Regional
Medical Center) to offer spiritual counseling to the hurting and their
families. They operate passenger vans to transport family members and
friends of patients to and from the hospital when appropriate.
KRM chaplains carry hand radios and operate a golf-cart
transportation ministry positioned throughout the speedway to assist
those who are handicapped or have minor injuries for whom the walking
the hilly terrain around the racetrack is just too challenging. They are
prepared whenever problems, transportation needs and other emergency
situations arise.
Guest Services
For several years KRM volunteers have staffed the Guest Services
booth at the Speedway which handles fan problem such as lost children,
information about services available and basic problem solving for fans.
This year we have been asked to staff 4 additional booths.
This is a big responsibility and a great opportunity for us to reach
out to fans. This is going to be a challenging year for our ministry.
