Kentucky Raceway Ministries

2011 Annual Report

The year 2011 was a busy and exciting year for Kentucky Raceway Ministries. Under the leadership of our new Director J. T. Marsh and his Leadership Team there were many changes. We are now officially incorporated by the State of Kentucky and have filed with the IRS for a non-profit status. We are also covered by a $6 million Liability Insurance policy.

Before the first race of the season we had hosted our first two church leadership breakfasts, conducted five training sessions and volunteer survey, and hosted a Kick Off  Event.

Five individual churches stepped up to help financially with Whites Run Baptist Association becoming our largest supporting association ever. We also had our largest single private donation ever. Thank you Tom and Theresa Ragland

In July 2011, Kentucky Speedway hosted its first ever Sprint Cup race along with a Camping World Truck race and a Nationwide Series race.  During that week KRM operated ministry sites at three campgrounds, set up and staffed a Vendors Area Site in partnership with MRO and staffed ten Guest Service & Information booths. We had 4 Golf Carts designated just for water and welfare. The ministry conducted three worship services and a wedding.

Our Trauma Response Teams worked in Care Centers, First Aid Stations and Grand Stands.

Our volunteers hosted four Christian concerts, served over 1000 meals to volunteers, staff and fans. We handed out over 10,000 bottles of Water and probably just as many cups of water, gave out thousands of cookies (we actually were almost out by Friday night) and passed out approximately 25,000 pieces of Christian literature, Bump Draft, tracts, bibles and newspapers. We also hosted cookout for the full time speedway staff on July 4th

We had 136 volunteers from eight different states, representing over 60 different churches. They ranged in age from 9 to over 80. They endured heat, rain and an undue amount of stress, worked a total of over 3600 hours. All maintained a positive Christian attitude and showed the love of God to the raceway fans and staff.

Our young people were awesome. They did all that was asked of them and then some. We had 10 that worked more than fifty hours each. One pastor related after the race how exciting it had been for him to serve with us. He expressed how unique our ministry was that we could use anyone with any type of experience or background.

I look forward to serving with each of you again soon.

May God Bless Each of You, Your Families and Your Churches/Ministry
